* 2. Provide risk, control and compliance advice to management on risk issues and, where appropriate, mitigate controls related to new projects and other initiatives. * 16. Report regularly to the Board and management on progress in defining methodologies to improve the efficiency and quality of services and reduce vulnerability to fraud, abuse and waste. Students who are eligible to work for an employer in the United States and have completed their first year of law school in the summer of 2023 are encouraged to apply. Candidates should have a strong academic record, excellent writing skills, and an interest in learning health law. * 1. Lead a robust and forward-looking system-wide management strategy, including alignment of compliance, audit and risk mitigation initiatives, with an understanding of the broader healthcare landscape, regulatory challenges and growth opportunities. The Vice-President, Corporate Compliance/Chief Executive Officer has the responsibility and authority to oversee all activities related to the development, implementation, maintenance and operation of the system`s corporate compliance and privacy program. As the System Compliance Officer, the incumbent is also responsible for Yale New Haven Health System`s (YNHHS) self-funded health plans as HIPAA Privacy Officer and ACO Compliance Officer. Corporate Compliance is responsible for monitoring compliance across all delivery networks, including all Yale New Haven Health System hospitals, NEMG physicians and practices, and other system facilities, to understand and comply with state and federal regulatory obligations.

YNHHS` compliance and data protection function has more than 20 employees. The YNHHS Corporate Compliance Department also works closely with Yale University departments on relevant compliance issues, including Yale Medical Group, the Yale Center for Cancer Initiatives, the University`s Chief Privacy Officer, and the Legal Department. The corporate compliance program includes systems training and education, ongoing risk assessment, monitoring and auditing, policy and procedure development, and audits or investigations related to compliance risk areas. The goal is to facilitate the sustainability of an organizational culture of compliance, prevent and detect violations of laws and regulations. Serve as a model for ethical management behavior and promote awareness and understanding of the system`s code of conduct and the system`s corporate privacy and compliance program. Also serves as a model for positive ethical and moral principles consistent with the mission, vision and values of the health system and its health care networks. Advocates for patient privacy and serves as a resource for Yale New Haven Health System regarding patient privacy and access to information requests or HIPAA issues. The Vice-President, Corporate Compliance/Chief Executive Officer reports to the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors through the Executive Vice-President/Chief Operating Officer and communicates immediately on all matters relating to criminal conduct or potential criminal conduct, but at least annually on the implementation and effectiveness of the compliance program. Prepare reports on the company`s compliance activities and present them to the System Compliance Committee and other organizing committees. Yale New Haven Health System, in partnership with Wiggin and Dana LLP, will offer a paid opportunity in summer 2023 to a first-year law student dealing with a wide range of legal issues with a focus on health law. This program is an opportunity to learn more about the practice of law from the perspective of the law firm and the health system.

Monitor formal risk assessments of strategic and operational processes; Use the results of the risk assessment to plan, design and implement an audit and compliance strategy that promotes ethical and compliant behavior and forms the basis for ensuring appropriate internal controls and compliance with all laws and regulatory requirements. * 7. Ensure that risk, control and compliance information from a variety of internal and external sources is effectively identified, aggregated, analyzed and communicated to management and the Board`s Systems Audit Committee to facilitate decision-making. * 6. Actively participate in the YNHHS enterprise-wide risk assessment process to identify areas of risk where compliance can be involved, advised, and/or audited. * 4. Expand, design and oversee a system-wide compliance and data protection program that includes managing, recruiting, developing and training professionals with sufficient professional knowledge, skills, experience and certifications to meet the requirements of the position. The compliance team has more than 20 employees. *5. Responsible for creating an annual work plan or audit plan to address high-risk areas within the organization, in coordination with management and departments with common objectives, including ORS, internal audit, internal control and others.

The annual work plan is submitted to the System Compliance Committee and the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors for approval. * 8. Responsible for trend compliance issues, root cause assessment and implementation of appropriate corrective actions to mitigate these risks. Corrective actions may include training, monitoring and auditing, implementation of internal controls, and revision of policies and procedures. * 19. Work with legal counsel to identify risks of non-compliance due to audits and establish parameters for voluntary self-disclosure to government agencies. * 22. Establish and maintain a process to receive, document, track, investigate and take action on all issues and complaints related to the system`s compliance and privacy policies and procedures. * 10. Coordinate resources to ensure the continued effectiveness of the compliance program. Implements and operates reporting channels without reprisal, including an anonymous telephone reporting system accessible to all system staff, volunteers and affiliated providers. * 18. Ensure the timely and efficient conduct of investigations, including compliance and fraud investigations, cooperation with external experts where appropriate, and legal and risk management services. * 17. Develop and coordinate appropriate compliance, privacy and security training, orientation and training programs for boards, management, medical staff, employees, volunteers and affiliated suppliers.
