Louise Unger is Director General, Credit, of the Commerce Commission. She has over 20 years` experience providing legal, risk management and compliance services to various New Zealand and international organisations including banking, telecommunications and electricity companies. Helen has over 30 years of experience advising and representing public and private sector clients on a wide range of issues, with a focus on media and medico-legal matters. She spent over 15 years in senior management positions in large companies before joining TVNZ in 2007 as Senior Counsel. She joined Auckland Council in 2016, initially as Head of Litigation and Dispute Resolution. In 2020, she was appointed General Counsel. Madeleine`s clients include world-class law firms, services and advisories, financial services organizations and a number of large publicly traded companies and government departments and agencies. Sian Wingate, an experienced in-house lawyer and former president of ILANZ, shares her best practices in delegating legal tasks so that busy in-house teams can maintain their ability to handle their organization`s high-risk, high-value cases. Fiona McLeod has over 20 years of legal experience in the public and private sectors, primarily in administrative, municipal and resource management law. Fiona has been in-house legal counsel to Nelson City Council for 7 years. In her current role as General Counsel, she leads the delivery of the Council`s legal services function. Recently, Fiona conducted a review of the legal services function and, as a result, implemented a new legal operations framework.

One of the goals of this framework is to allow the in-house legal team to spend more time on tasks of high value to the organization. Shaun Plant is Chief Legal Evangelist at LawVu. He also provides project management and legal technology services to legal teams around the world. Shaun has integrated innovation and project management at all stages of his legal career, both in private and in-house legal practice. Shaun began his career in contract engineering and moved into the legal profession with a focus on project and change management. His legal training includes public and private companies in environmental and project law, where he has delivered large capital constructions. Ethan Jerome-Leota graduated from the University of Waikato in 2017 with a Bachelor of Laws and was called to the Bar in 2018. Ethan has been working for his own post-settlement governance unit iwi Waikato-Tainui since 2018, where he spent the first three years of his legal career specializing in contract settlement law and policy.

He is currently in-house counsel on Waikato-Tainui`s governance and legal team. Apart from Mahi, Ethan serves on governing bodies at national and local levels, including Community Law Waikato and previously Te Hunga Roia Maaori o Aotearoa (Maaori Law Society). Ethan is passionate about realizing his people`s aspirations, building their skills, challenging the status quo, and creating opportunities for their success. He lives by this whakatauaaki of Princess Te Puea Herangi – “Mahia te mahi, hei painga moo te iwi. Work for the betterment of the population” Victoria is General Counsel and Partner in Dentons` London office. As General Counsel UK, Ireland & Middle East, she sits on the company`s Executive Committee and as a member of the Global and Regional Risk Management Committee, the Global and Regional Operations Committee and as an advisor to the UKIME Board. Victoria is responsible for claims, risk management, business advice and regulatory compliance in the UKIME region. Prior to joining Dentons, Victoria held several in-house legal leadership positions at global U.S. companies Kraft Heinz and Starbucks. Most recently, as Vice President of Legal and Corporate Affairs EMEA, she was responsible for leading a team of 27 employees in eight countries and developing and executing the EMEA legal, compliance and corporate strategy in 130 countries to support more than 5,000 employees. Victoria delivers business value as a trusted advisor at the SMT and C-suite level.

Leveraging her legal expertise, Victoria has negotiated maximum value in complex strategic commercial transactions across multiple jurisdictions, protected brand integrity, and led mission-critical projects to improve operability. Helen Wild is General Counsel at Te Kaunihera o Tāmaki Makaurau / Auckland Council. She leads Ngā Ratonga Ture/Legal Services, a team of over 60 lawyers, legal executives and support staff. The team provides legal support to Auckland Council, its governing body, local bodies and elected members, as well as two of its CCOs (eke Panuku and Auckland Unlimited) and works closely with a panel of external legal providers. Auckland Council is New Zealand`s largest unitary authority and one of New Zealand`s largest employers. It operates within a complex legal framework with a high level of political and public control. The team`s mandate extends to all legal matters, with the exception of labour law. Judith Cheyne is a senior partner in Simpson Grierson`s Local Government and Environment Group, based in Christchurch.
